Intake Manifold
Intake Manifold
I want to upgrade my intake manifold to complement my new headers and exhaust, I seen a couple that I can upgrade to; the ZO6, SSI- Series, and the Holly. My cars internals are all stock, which would be the best upgrade. The SSI claims that it flows approximately 15% better than Z06 manifold.
Re: Intake Manifold
the FAST intake claims gains over the LS6 as well.
but when guys and magazines tested it, it was only making 1-2 more hp than the LS6 on a 400hp engine.
the holley intake made no gains over the stock LS1 intake....
so stick with the LS6
best bang for the buck unless you are going FI or big cubes

on a stock motor the LS6 intake is the only one worth using.

Re: Intake Manifold
'01 and '02's have the LS6 style intake.
The Holley/Lingenfelter/Weiand... whatever you want to call it
, is nice since you can polish it (or purchase already polished)... makes for a nice looking intake but it can be pricey. Some people complain about heat soak problems with the aluminum but I have no experience or heard anything personally about it.
I'm installing an LS6 intake myself, should free up a LOT of power with the heads/cam setup. For your application, I believe the composite LS6 intake would be just fine for you as well.

Re: Intake Manifold
Just ran into this thread regarding the intake manifolds, which compares the LS6 V. LS2 v. FAST intakes, take a look, pretty interesting.

Re: Intake Manifold
If your running a pretty stock motor I would just stick to the ls6. I've had 2 of the holley intakes, a stock ls1 intake, and a ls6 intake. I had high compression...11.3:1 and a pretty agressive cam setup with headers and straight dumped exhaust. I gained almost 20hp with the ls6 intake and ported my tb, and i gained another 12hp over the ls6 with the holley. I'm not saying everyone can gain that, but the gains are there. Different intakes have different applictions and uses. You have to choose the one right for your setup. Over doing it can hurt more than help. As far as the fast inake. I can only speak from what i've seen. I can't see spending money on something with few or almost no gains over the ls6. Not saying its a bad intake, just stating the obvious. I suggest you go to ls1tech and do a search on intakes. Spend some time reading.
