Is the intake for the 01-02's...
the ls6 intake? I have heard that the 01-02's came factory with the same intake as the ls6 where the 00's and before just had the normal ls1 intake. And does anyone know how to tell the difference between the two at a glance or by part number?
01-02 are Ls6 intakes...
Actually it wouldnt be an LS6 intake since all 01 and newer cars have this intake anyways.
Most people need a part # to know the difference because at a glance all the vette intake's and 00+ f-body intakes look the same. There is more than one 01-02 part # however.
One exception to the looking at it rule is the bottom of the 01-02 intake is slightly different. This does not help if the intake is on the car.

sorry to let the air out of your tires, but the SS and Ram Air T/A's have the exact same engine, your right though, the extra HP didnt come from the hood, it came from the muffler, and in the case of optioned cars, catback and lid.
You can tell if its a LS6 intake if there is no hole in the front of the manifold where the EGR went in the LS1 manifold cause the LS6 intake does not have the hole for the EGR since the new 01-02 F bodies and vettes do not have EGR.
