So a mean street machine that looks awesome.
For street performance:
(horsepower)
- Free mods
- Air lid
- Cat Back exhaust
- Reprogram the computer
- Skip shift eliminator
(handling)
- Subframe connectors
- DMS springs
- Strut tower brace
- Bilstien shocks
- Good tires (what brand depends on budget)
For show:
- The SS already looks awesome. Don't change a thing. (But I'm biased
)
- Protect it with Klasse or Zaino polish. Others like Maguire's too.

That's exactly why I want the SS!
Don't have to do a thing to it, other than maybe upgrading the tires and wheels. Nothing but Zaino products already touches my vehicles as it is. I have an '02 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab which, after using Zaino on it, turned me into a firm believer.Chris

Thanks for the reply, excellent info bro! Again, I am no master wrenchman so, if you would, explain to me what each of the performance mods does.

(horsepower)
- Free mods - Mostly better air flow on the intake side.
- Air lid - Better air flow.
- Cat Back exhaust - Less backpressure for better airflow and wicked sounds too.
- Reprogram the computer - Optimize power by changing timing and fuel curves.
- Skip shift eliminator - Gets rid of the mandatory 1-4 shift mechanism.
(handling)
- Subframe connectors - stiffens body, lessens chassis flex, keeps TTops fitting nice and snug.
- DMS springs - Lowers car and stiffens up suspension. Progressive rate springs are soft at first and get firm as they compress during spirited driving. Won't shake you to death on the bumps but gets rid of the sloppy body roll of stock Fbodies. (This is the only time that I know of that the cheapest brand is one of the best too.)
- Strut tower brace - Stiffens chassis. Keeps front end geometry in check for better tire connection to road.
- Bilstien shocks - Also stiffen the car and help with handling.
- Good tires - should be obvious there.
I forgot these.
- 32-35mm front sway bar - limits body roll in corners. Don't change the rear bar. It'll make the back end loose. Leave the rear bar nice and soft and it will stay planted a lot better in the twisties. If you feel like the car doesn't want to turn (pushes) then you can think about a stiffer bar. But that's kinda like making the back loose traction because the front doesn't have enough traction. It might make it feel better because the car will turn in, but it's not right. See my last suggestion:
- Camber - You'll have to get an alignment after you install the springs and shocks. Have them give you a little camber on the front wheels. How much depends on just how hard you're gonna drive it. With the stock settings on stock suspension, right now, my SS wears out the outside edge of the tire. I drive it pretty hard in the corners.
With some negative camber, it would grip better and wear more toward the inside edge of the tires. When I put my springs on I'll have that taken care of.
