I put 87 Octane in my LS1
one bottle of boost has worked for me. some had switched the stickers on the pumps one time when i went for fuel. I should've noticed when it was really cheap. anyways, i bought a bottle of octane boost from the parts store, and it was good after that, no more spark retard or any thing. now, if you have a hypertech of some other means of advanced timing(LS1 Edit of something like that), a bottle may not cut it. in that case, keep your foot out of it till you can get 93 octane.
In California the highest I've seen is 91 octane!!!! I have been all over moreno valley, pomona, ontario, riverside, corona and all the gas stations are 87, 89, 91!!!!! And it's also the most expensive from any other state!!! Anyone in california know where they have 93 octane and it is recently?

My last two fill-ups have been with 87. I honestly could not feel any difference. No pinging, noithing. And it accelerated the same as with 93 or 94 Sunoco.

For some reason people think all cars run better with higher octane and that higher octane automatically means more power.
Lower octane does NOT burn dirtier either. It actually ignites easier (which is why it detonates in high compression engines) which would make for more complete combustion and will decrease emissions. If you people's cars are pinging, you have some knock sensor issues that need to be addressed.

Ahh, ^^^Greed4Speed^^^.............someone who knows the TRUTH about gasoline!!

Since we have emissions testing here in Ontario, I know that it's best to use REGULAR gas, and not "Super-clean" PREMIUM gas, because like you said, there will be more complete combustion and fewer emissions running regular
. It's actually a complete waste of money and fuel running higher than what's absolutely necessary because then there will actually be a lot of un-burned fuel exiting out the tail pipes (and does THAT sound very economical?!
)
