Re: i need to do a full exhaust

I'd get cheap headers like pacesetter or maybe the new edelbroke. I'd leave the exhaust alone or put a different muffler on it if you want it a little louder. I think the ideal setup is longtubes with stock exhaust with electric cutout, this way you can have quiet when you are jamming to music and loud when your jamming the throttle down. The electric ones also can be opened up just a little bit, this lets you choose how loud it is, you really can't beat that! Oh yeah the cutouts are cheaper than a whole new catback as well.

I thought a cutout would be the way to go too, it lost its charm after a couple weeks. Just get a good cat-back. Sound nice, flow well (just as good as a cutout), look nice, and shed a bunch of weight.

Go with the Pacesetter Longtubes...I put 'em in last night. They're really easy to do and fit VERY well. They're also pretty much the cheapest ones out there.

pacesetter LT's and Y-pipe into a decent catback. Keep cats if you don't want the exhaust to raspy. That'll take just about anything you pump through it and still be emissions legal...to an extent.

no catback flows as good as a cutout. I agree with D james, nice set of long tubes and a cut out. And maybe a muffler

If you want a cutout, Jegs sells a new type where the bypass piece is attached to a cable that runs into the car where you can open it while driving. Definitely beats an electric cutout (pricewise) and is only around $50. If not, then if you want the most hp gains, go with true duals with X pipe dumped at the axle. Deepest sounding system out there with no rasp.

Re: i need to do a full exhaust

I went with Flowtech coated LT's, (less than $400, fit perfectly, not a single leak) and a True Dual kit from Flowtech as well, with an x-pipe ($109.00) and 2 Dynomax bullets for mufflers turning down at the axle. The sound is truly awesome! I have a cam too, so that makes it all the more better. Thumps nicely at idle, and turns a few heads. Then, when it's WOT, every head turns, and little kids hold their ears.....lol I even had a mom grab her son back from the curb, as I went by at about 3500 rpm. All together I have about $560 in exhaust, from the headers back. Ive owned Borla, and Flowmaster, and this setup owns them all, by far. Other F Body owners have stopped me just to ask which system I have on there. Best sounding, cheapest, and easiest to do IMO. Good luck to ya!

But how much flow do you need? If a cat back will support 550hp and you have 350hp then the "better" flow of a cutout won't make any difference at all. Will it?

That will also depend upon how much HP you're making. You don't need dual 3" pipes for 350-550hp motors.

Where did you get this at? I'm thinking about true duals this winter.
