Question I have another ? for the tech people.

Does my stock 98z 6-spd have a speed limiter ???? I have not ran it up past 100 mph. No I'm not skeeeerd I just need two front tires. If it does have a limiter how much $$ would it take to get rid of it. Also ... What is the ASP or ASR button on the dash ?? Traction control ? I don't have the owners manuel.

It depends whether your car came with factory Z-rated tires or not. If NOT, then your car will be limited to ~115 mph or something like that, otherwise the top speed limiter is around ~163 mph with factory Z-rated tires. The limiter can be removed using basically any programmer (Hypertech, LS1 Edit, etc.).

ASR is Automatic Slip Regulation (I think? ) is yes that's your traction control. Unless it has been changed from the factory setting, it is always ON unless you push the button to turn it OFF. I don't have it on my car, but what I've heard from guys who have it is they almost always turn it off, and there's actually a way to wire it backwards so that it is normally OFF unless you turn it on.

ASR is the traction control button...

drop the hammer from a stop, you'll see what happens.

when it's off there will be an "asr off" lite up on the left side of the gauges

just get in the habit of taking it off soon as you start the car...i like mine for rain driving...kindda my "keep me out of trouble" button

When the wheels slip it will kick your gas pedal up and definitely rob you of power. It can be bad durring a race because it often kicks up the gas pedal when the tires barely slip.

If your speedo goes to 155 mph you don't have the governor. If it only reads up to 110 or 115 you do.
