I have a ?
Take a look at your MAF ... see the two resistors on one side of the blade ... see the one resistor on the othe side to blade ... the blade is isolating the air flow and the calculations are based on the air flow in each half of the MAF ... when you remove those blades the two halfs are no longer islolated as well as the fact that you have changed the internal demensions of your measuring device.
Those "restrictive" ends that you are so concerned about are part of the mechanical calibration of the MAF ... remove them and it is no longer calibrated ...
You keep trying to compare the MAF to the induction system ... do you understand that one is before your measuring device and the other IS your measuring device ... M

I seem to understand completey. Isolating the filaments with those ends are hardly what I would consider a precise calibrator. We can agree to disagree...my wrenchman and every other mechanic I have talked with seem to disagree with you as well. Oh well, good debate.
V6toZ28 is in my opinion the most correct, the MAF isn't reading more air flow, its in a way ready less of a load of air going through it, in other words, it was ment to measure the air coming in one way and if its coming in a different way it isnt going to work correctly, and don't believe some of the stuff you read in those magazines they are paid by sponsores in most cases-and they wouldn't want to write something to upset them. but I do have a subscription to a couple of them though.....
petegz28, I haven't been to the track with the new gears yet but will be going soon so I can try them out with the nitrous. I love them, i do have alittle tration problem but I still get 19.5 mpg. right at 70 mph my exhaust is extremly loud but is alot better at 80.
I should be in the really low 13's on engine (crossing fingers--a flat 13). and nitrous low to mid 12's.

Ok, ran last night at the track for the first time with my Ported MAF Ends. Can't say it gave me anything noticeable et time wise. However I was consistantly 1/2 a mph faster. Could be the Smooth Bellows too, or both. But my car was running 13.3's and 4's all night long on very low-tread Yokohama DB's. Made over 7 runs and no changes to fuel tables etc.. When I go in to get my SFC's put on I will have my wrenchman throw the scanner on and see if I am running lean or not.
