I definitely need a new clutch now.
All right. Heres the picture. Clutch was kind of getting crappy and friction point was near the floor, but the car still shifted just fine. This is no longer the story, i just took about a 600 mile round trip, and on the way home, i started seeing some bad signs. when the car is just sitting i just about cant get the tranny to go into reverse to save my life, same way for first gear. My Dad is mechanically savvy (ive heard of him to build a Chevy 605 in one night). he says its either the clutch is fryed, which is probably true, or the slave cylinder is shot. he says he wants to fix all of this himself so that we dont have to pay for labor for something he thinks we can do. right now is the question of what clutch to get. Im thinking the Z06 clutch, or a medioker aftermarket one. my car just has new intake and exhaust and that is it, the thing is i want a strong clutch, that wont go out. i need some suggestions on thes and the reference on where to obtain these parts. i also need to know where to get other related parts, like the throw out bearing and master and slave cylinders and so on. Thanks guys.

I'd go with a SPEC Star clutch. They have different setups available for single discs capable of up to 600 hp....although you probably won't need that agressive of a clutch. As for throw out bearings and slave cylinders, I'd call the local dealer and have them get you the part numbers and then go to www.gmpartsdirect.com . They have some of the lowest prices I've seen on the net for that stuff. If you want to stick with GM, the part # for the Z06 clutch assembly (with flywheel) is 12570806 . Hope this helps. Good luck.
It's more than likley the hydraulic throwout. The reason that you can't get it into gear is because it won't push the pressure plate open enough to release the clutch disc and if the disc is spinning then you can't get it into gear. But you have to pull the trans to change it out so you might as well replace everything. The newer hydraulics are way better anyway.
It does sound like your hydraulic system. I had to nearly stand on the clutch pedal to get my car in reverse. When I changed out the clutch, it didn't look too bad even though it had some burn marks. GMpartsdirect is the cheapest place to get the slave and master cylinders. They don't have a user-friendly site though. I have a McLeod single-disk setup and I'm very happy with it. I was able to get everyting for $665 but that was with a group purchase. The cheapest price I've seen was $800 with Thunder Racing.
