Exclamation Hypertech PP3 question?

Guys just a simple question I need answering. Might seem dumb but I just need to make sure.

My friend is selling me his HPP3 at a riduculously low price. He returned it back to stock programming. We both have 2000 LS1's. Can I use it on my car?

I just need to make sure before the deal goes down. I know there are better programmers out there, but for $50...it think its good for now.

Thanks in advance.

1 word of advice. I hope you still have your MAF screen. HPP doesnt like altered mafs. I just returned mine to stock yeaterday. The car actually runs better stock. And I paid 200$ on e-bay for my HPP

Hypertech programmers will always work on other cars of the SAME year, but they won't work on any other year (I know this because I tried a 2001 HPP3 on my car and it said "no way!!!"). So, I got 2002 HPP3. Oh yeah, gotta be set back to "stock" before swapping, but you got that covered already!

Uhhh, Can I ask why it doesn't like altered MAF's?

CRAP...I don't have the screen, I think the previious owner removed it cuz when I installed my air lid, it didn't have it.

The HPP is programmed for stock maf calibrations airflow etc. The screen changes the flow over the maf sensors. Therefore without the screen it may or maynot be getting acurate information as to the true air/fuel mixture. I wouldnt lose sleep over the screen tho as I intend to try the HPP with the stock MAF and with it ported and descreened.
