How to take calipers off?

How to take calipers off?

I am going to take my calipers and rotors off this winter to polish and paint them. i wanted to know if i could take them off for like 3 monthes with nothing bad happing from having them off. also will i have to plug the brake lines or anything and if so how could i do that.

You'd be better off just removing them , painting them & reinstalling them.

Insteed of trying to block of the line & letting it sit that long & possibly of it gravity bleeding itself, you'll have a heck of a time bleedin' it then.

I would have to agree with the whole (take them off do your job and get them back on there) i did mine that way and got the job done...

Plus you can wake up EVERY morning and go out to your garage and look at the wonderful work u did!

Or better yet go to the salvage yard and pick up an extra set. Clean them, paint them, rebuild them, and then swap them in.
Then sell yours or keep them as spares.

As stated above keeping a brake system open for any length of time at all is a bad idea. Brake fluid absorbs water.
