bluecmaro96, my 99 exhaust manifolds are steel tubular where as the 2002 i've looked at had cast iron i believe. the articles i've read claim the 01-02 flow better but they would be way too much work to put on a 98-00. emmisions stuff in slightly different places. hey,do gas prices stink or what? i'm going to need a 2nd job to put fuel in my ride!

I thought that as well. But, I drove the car there and dynoed it hot. Then, we made 6 pulls or so and power dropped on each one. So, I suspect it may make more power when it is on the street than when heat soaked on a dyno. But, that is what the numbers showed, so I can't fake that one. I made one dragstrip pass on street tires (at 1000 miles or so) and ran a 14.04@102.5 with a 2.6 60 foot time ("launched" it at 900 rpm, like leaving a traffic light). So, the MPH makes me think the power is "reasonable" and it was a real easy pass (I hadn't mailed the first payment yet).

Just seems to show that the 2002 cars are not all "ringers".

The dyno was a mobile Dynojet.
I think you may have more power then that dyno or trap shows. The 102.5 trap is weak for a M6 ls1 but the 60' time makes me wonder. A bad 60' time can hurt your mph. You really need a 2.0 or at least 2.1 60' time in somewhat decent weather to get an idea of what your actual trap potential is.

I had my best run 13.1 @ 106.77 on a 2.0 60' time. Not too bad for what little mods I have and an A4. But on that same day just one run earlier I had a horrible launch (spun so bad I started to fishtail). That run was 14.5 @ 103 on a 2.5 60' time. I lost 3.5 mph in my trap by my launch being so messed up. Plus I went 13.5 @ 103.7 on a different day with a 2.1 60' time. Only difference was the weather was much hotter and the humidity cost me 3 mph.

Your right, all 2001 & 2002 M6's are not all ringers for the dyno and the track. But most do rather well. I honestly think your car has 106 traps and at least a 305 rwhp dyno in it if given the right conditions. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

You are probably right and I felt that way as well (that's why I was not upset about it).

I was sitting at the staging light trying to decide how to launch it. And had staged already. The lights came down and I pulled a 1.06 light and nearly stalled it when I left. I literally blipped the throttle, eased out the clutch and "drove it" to the end. Like an easy trip from a traffic light, no tire spin, no powershifts. It was the "easiest" drag pass I've ever made in anything. I didn't beat it, powershift it or anything else (and I still passed the TA beside me???, he ran a 14.34@100.5 with a 2.2 60 foot, I think it was an LT1/auto car, not sure why he was "so slow" maybe he had a problem, this was at SLP day at National Trails in 2002). So, I'm guessing there is alot more in it. It was 88-93 degrees out and very humid that day (I'm sure that didn't help).

By the end of the dyno runs (6 of them, including a 3-4-5 gear pull), I was down into the 280's for HP.

Anyway, enough about my specific case, I was just trying to make a point that mine seems to indicate that they were or can be more equal than some people think.
