How much hp can I look to make on a 02 WS6 with full bolt on's?

I'm thinking real hard on buying my brothers 02 ws6. I already have a 97 Z28, but was thinking about getting a new toy. I just wanted to get an ideal on how much hp I can make with it and still dvive it every day. Thanks

With ONLY bolt ons, I would say the most you can make is gonna be around 350 at the wheels. That is with a lid, maf, smooth bellows, long tubes, and a free flowing cat back....i.e. pretty much all the bolt ons.

You need to define bolt-ons....technically some people can chalk up heads as a bolt on!

350 OMG are you kidding me?? i have an lt1 and thought i would read through some of the ls1 stuff and was blown away by this. figuring 15% puts the flywheel at about 410. is this true?? bolt ons (no heads / cam / supercharger) will add 80 ish horsepower to an ls1?? it has to be the long tubes. my stock exhaust lt1 manifold was crap. i would guess gm did the same to the ls1. damn i bought the wrong car.

It's not technically 80ish hp that get's added...maybe more like 50-60. Some of it is due to the fact that LS1's are significantly underrated from the factory. My 99 (no ls6 intake, no pullies, and no headers) put 329.6 to the wheels a few weeks ago. So, figure an 01-02 with full bolt-ons will see somewhere between 350-360 at the wheels.

I am still bone stock.. I put down 316 rwhp 1 year ago.. add 8rwhp for any lid... thats stock exhaust and just a lid.. figure you will only really see any hp increase with lid and exhaust.. the other little things may add up but doubtful they will really account for much..

I am certain I can put down over 320 bone stock still... the car woke up after 21K miles..

The car will remain bone stock for quite some time as I have no desire to mod it at all..

I think more than 350 is possible.. but that is a realistic number.. I like to think that bolt ons = no valvecover removal.. so no heads, cam or rockers or anything else..

welcome to the ls1...particularly the 01/02 ls6 block and intake "ls1"

that 02 ws6 should dyno bone stock right around 300-310

start adding bolt ons and it will quickly climb much higher.

i'd say 375 to the wheels is attainable. looking at lid, maf, tb, pullies, lts, catback, waterpump, free/cheap mods, and tuning

and do you consider roller rockers bolt ons?

MAF and smooth bellow don't do sh*t so save your money and steer clear of wasting your money on them.

ls6 intake
tb
L/Ts
air lid
exhaust
pullies

99 formula auto 3.23 gears. baseline is stock with borla catback with middle plate in stalled.

dyno 9 is with the added VHP airlid, VHP MAF housing, Bassani tuned headers w/ y-pipe and cats
tomorrow we dyno the VHP 1.89 accelerated lift rocker and spring kit. it comes with the screw in studs, guideplates, chromemoly pushrods, and dual springs.

and you can't say a MAF housing doesn't do anything. here's the dyno of my car just installing it. you can see a gain all the way through the range. even though there is a peak gain of only 2.9 hp and 2.7 tq, look past the peak in the 5800 to 6300 range. at 6300 the before is 300 rwhp. after the MAF is a gain of almost 10hp. so, you can see the MAF is a restriction in the upper rpms. so the $99.00 that VINCI HIGH PERFORMANCE is selling it for is your call. but every little thing helps.http://www.vincihighperformance.com/superwebdeals.HTML

As far as performance bolt on's go my '02 Collector Edition LS1 has:
Whisper Lid
Holly Pro Shot filter (K&N look alike but better fit)
Borla Y Pipe
SLP Loudmouth exhaust

It dyno'd stock with 302hp and 335hp after these were installed.

It still has the factory cats, no head/cam mods.

The LS1 is definitely underrated.

I had a 95 LT1, but enjoy the LS1 a lot more.

Here is a graph of my car with pretty much all of the bolt ons (no pulley, roller rockers or water pump). The after graph is the addition of a TSP 231/237 cam and an ASP pulley.
