How much better is the SLP Cat-back than a z28 cat back
I have an opertunity to get the stock slp cat back exhaust for pretty cheap. But I'm wondering if it would be worth it or not. What is different between the oem slp and the oem z28 cat back exhaust?

if your looking for a great sound, go with borla or Corsia. Thats about all your paying for. The SLP is used on SS carmaros i believe but your not gonna tell a diference. Real Preformance gains are from stuff like LS6 heads(ported etc.) superchargers, NOS. Mufflers are a rice rocket trick that has no treat

But I just thought I'd ask since I could have gotten it for less than $50. Thanks for the replys.

well for $50, if your exhaust that is on the car now is not looking so good, then yeah it would be a great buy. But i'm sure it doesn't sound any different than yours now. Borla, flowmaster or corsia all have a very aggressive sound, very loud. Click on my link in my sig' and hear what Magna flow sounds like. Its an 3 1/8th muffler

The SLP exaust is not a "stock" exaust. It is an aftermarket system that anyone can purchase through SLP. It is an option on the SS's. I don't really see how anyone can say that a catback will be more looks than power. These cars are highly exaust restricted. Anything you can do to free it up helps tremendously. The SLP is actually one of the highest hp making catbacks out there. It's just that no one buys it cause it is so quiet. Even though it is quiet, it still gives the car a much more V8 sound than the stock exaust that sounds like blowing bubbles in a glass of water. It is a $600 dollar catback through SLP, so if you can get it for $50 bucks, go for it. If it is the true SLP catback it will look like this: http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...RTNUMBER=31029

I'm probably one of the few people that actually likes the sound of the SLP exhaust.
I had the Hooker on my 95 Z and have heard Flowmasters and a Loudmouth on LS1 cars.
The SLP may be quiter at idle , but when you get on it it sounds refined but bad-*** ; not loud just to be loud.
I have no desire at all to change my muffler. This is the first car I've had that I was happy with the stock exhaust tone.
....just my opinion though.

For $50, why not try it. If you do not like it, you only lose $50. I have the slp exhaust and it may flow well, but it is soooooo quiet. I would choose a different exhaust, if your looking for sound.

lol ..... you can buy 2/3 of an exhaust tip , but reasons for why I bought GMMG was flow and an aggressive sound...... SLP just has flow ... and a quiet sound .... as for $50 sound really cheap .... i dont think I would let mine go for that cheap
