How loud & smelly are cat-less long tubes?
I'm considering getting a set of Pacesetters for my SS. Emissions testing isn't an issue, so I was wondering:
How smelly would it be to run without cat's? I previously had an '85 Corvette without cat's and that thing smelled horrible. The SS runs great & has the stock cam & heads (if it matters).
I know it's pretty relative, but how much louder would it be? I like the sound of my exhaust now: the SLP muffler is pretty tame at idle & cruising and sounds "mean" when I get on it. I don't want something so loud that it's going to be annoying.
The extra 5 horsepower or so without cat's really isn't an issue to me. To be honest, I'm a tight-*** and if just comes down to whether or not I want to spend an extra $200-$300 for converters.

My smell was so bad that it was making me sick...I got it tuned after about 4 days, it is perfectly fine now. It was running extremely rich before the tune.
