What is the length of the dipstick on an LS1? Need to know so I can get a dipstick heater.

ok... this thread has been around long enough w/ no help..

I'll go measure mine for ya...

From the roll pin, it's almost exactly 28.5 inches.. From the bottom of the yellow handle is almost exactly 27.5 inches..

Let us know how this turns out, and I hope it helps..

WTF is a dipstick heater and how does it work?

I have seen the pads that stick to the bottom of the oil pan that heat the oil.

Do you have a block heater also? I would think the block heater would warm the coolant and oil. It does on my truck anyway....the oil is probly around 100 degrees or so F but he coolant is warmer than that

A block heater can only heat the oil in the oil galleries. The oil in the pan will only warm up very slightly due to transfer from the block. There is no coolant passages in the oil pan.
