How to install shift light?
I the really small apexi shift light with a autometer rpm activated control moduel. anyways i heard that you need to tap into the back of the gauge cluster to do this...does anyone know where it is in the cluster? should i try to do this or is it better just to have a shop do it? thanks

ok if anyone is wondering i got it in...and you need to set the RPM activated box to 4 cylidinder....yeah dont ask. i wired it into the white wire in the PMC on passager side. i knew which wire cause i has a MSD window switch on it for my NOS kit. (for sale 475)
It might be easier to get to the wire you need at the PCM. Probably just the engine speed sensor wire. Go to LS1.com and look under FAQ. There is a list of all the wires and their function along with the pin number for the PCM connector. I needed this wire when I put cruise control in and it was a snap to tap in, don't even have to unplug the PCM.
If it is Harlan Brand here is there info. Click on Shift light then install instruction"check them out". If not should be able to look up another venders info on the net.

the autometer light (and most others for that matter) are designed to work on a wide range of ignitions, it gets a signal and converts it into RPM. Our ignitions have a different signal output than "normal" and the switch must be set to 4 cyl to convert properly.
put the same light on an old distributor fired V8 and you will have to set it to 8 cyl
