how fast are these cars?

How fast?
Well, for '98 - '02 Camaros and Firebirds with the LS1 V8, you're looking at 13.something in the 1/4 mile (with the odd exception, like low 14's or high 12's depending on the car / conditions / driver). Top end, they're governed around ~160 mph (if equipped with Z-rated tires).
In comparison to the Corvette, the horsepower "rating" is less, but in reality they're the same engine, so the F-body LS1 is actually putting out ~350HP same as the 'Vette LS1.
HTH.

How fast? Well, power = speed, right? On the dynojet over at Hypertech, I laid down 330 RWHP (SAE Corrected) and 347 Ft/Lbs of torque with only a lid and a cutout. (BTW, the cutout gave me a 13 RWHP increase)
As for speed, it can get to 140 MPH in a hurry, (and still in 5th gear) and plenty left to spare. I just didn't see the need to go faster at the time.

Generally speaking the Corvette and Camaro put out the same power to the wheels. Corvettes might have slightly higher flywheel numbers b/c of true duals, but they lose a little more in the drivetrain via IRS. Thus usually equaling out RWHP. The Corvette is lighter and more aerodynamic thus giving it ~ .3 advantage in the 1/4. However given conditions, driver, motor to motor variances it is possible for a stock LS1 F-body to take out a stock C5. Doesnt happen often but is very possible. Once you start modding its a whole new ballgame.
Once again big advantage of the Vette is handling.

0.3 advantage to the 'vette is a little generous. Stock for stock, in the 1/4 mile, it comes down to the driver.
Once rolling, the 'vette has a measurable weight advantage, the aerodynamic advantage is minimal, but the f-body has the advantage off the line due to solid rear axle vs. IRS.

Absolutely, 100% bone stock at 1800 miles my '01 T/A dyno'd 310 rwhp and 334 rwtq. At 2200 miles with the only mod being 17x9 Firehawk wheels and Nitto 555RII road race tires on all four corners it ran a 12.97@108.4 in the 1/4.
