How do I get to the Spark Plugs!??
How do I get to the Spark Plugs!??
I have a '98 Z28 and I'm in the process of changing the sparkplugs. I had no trouble changing the driver's side, but how in the heck do you get to the ones on the passagener's side of the engine? I'm using a rachet with a flex head on it. I can't get my hands or a wrench down to the spark plugs. Does anybody have any suggestions???
Thanks
Thanks
Re: How do I get to the Spark Plugs!??
I had to remove coil pack and remove the two bolts securing the AIR tube to the exhaust manifold and pull it up to the top of the intake out of the way, and be very patient.
The #8 plug is PITA (some people remove it from the underside), took me almost an hour just to remove it and my arms looked like I just went 12 rounds with one pissed off tomcat.
This may help...

i removed the air tube, but not the coil packs.. Wish i would have though after i cut up my arms on them. I got the back plug from under the car. I had a bigger pain putting the #8 wire on the coil than anything... All in all it took right about an hour for plugs/wires. No where near as bad as my lt1 car was when it was stock.

When I did mine, I went from under the car, with me laying on the ground right behind the passenger front tire, without the car lifted at all. The rest were done from the engine bay. I don't have the air assembly in mine, so that make it eaiser, however I NEVER removed coil packs or the A/C unit, so keep in mine you don't HAVE to do that if you don't want to

Good thing you dont have an LT1....change plugs on that thing and youll be in tears . Id almost rather put a clutch in my car then change plugs no the LT1 .
LT1camaroman93 gave pretty good advice for that change

On LT1's you change them from underneath. If you have a machine shop drill out the fitting on the inside of your plug socket and use a box end to turn it, it makes it a little easier. SLP sells a socket like this for $20.
