Post How can I tell which part of tie rod is bad?

I know that one of them on the passenger side is bad because the wheel will move in and out. Is there any way to tell which part of the tie rod is bad or should I just replace both the inner and outer?

$100 says its teh outer. you can tell by jacking up the front control arm on teh side thats bad. grab the tire and apply pres. in both directions, not to turn the tire, just to see the slop by rocking the tire back and fourth. youwill feel it if one of them is bad. then you need to watch the outer to see if you can see the tie rod seperate from the strg. knuckle . youd see the knuckle move w/o the tierod moving. kinda hard to explain, but just try it and you'll see what i mean.
hope this helps. chris
