Hooker header Q

Hey guys - I'm sure this has been beaten to death but I have a question installing the P/N 2253-1 for 98-99 cars on a '01 F-body. Got off the phone with Thunder Racing and they said I will need the 98-99 car AIR tubes and an EGR block-off plate. I understand needing the EGR block, but do I need the 98-99 AIR tubes? These parts tack on an additional $100 bucks to the price making the Hookers see like less of a bargin. Also TR said they don't handle the P/N 16723-1 coated Y-pipe. I'm in Michigan so I don't need to install cats, but I would like to hook up the rest of the smog stuff to the headers. Anyone out there who has put the Hooker's on a 01-02 car please let me know your experience. Thanks.

The passenger side tube will work with a little bending...

Buy a driver's side off of a 99 car at a junkyard...about $25 is what I paid...

Where to get the coated Y-pipe? Directly from Jet-Hot? I have a 10% coupon for TR that I would like to use before Jan 31. But if I can get the headers and Y-pipe combo at a lower price I'll be set. I'll try my GM dealer for the AIR tubes and EGR block off plate as I can get that stuff at supplier discount price - the $45ea for the tubes that TR quoted seemed pretty stiff Anymore self installers keep the replies rollin' in.

Hey guys, I talked to Jet-Hot and they can get the headers and y-pipe (coated) to my door for $580 and $248 respectively. This is the best deal that I've found so far. I guess I'll just get the AIR tubes from my local dealer. What gaskets and bolts work the best for installing???

Hooker has come out with a header just for 01 and 02 F-bodies. PN: 2254 or 2254-1 HKR for coated. I was thinking about getting these for my car. I beleave it uses the same P/N 16723-1 Y-pipe.

Good Luck!

Re-use your stock bolts (assuming they're in good shape) and buy some new stock gaskets...
