Hood performance

I see all of these fiberglass hoods being advertised..do these help performance or just looks?? They are supposed to be lighter but i can't find their actual weight or the weight of the stock hood. Wondering if there was much of a difference.

yeah i think they are like 12lb to 20lbs lighter? dunno..

be rational about things like wieght deduction in your car though! dont spend $600.00 on a fiberglass hood so you can lose 20lbs just so you can be bumping with a huge *** 60lb magnet of a subwoofer in your trunk..

my $0.02.

Nothing noticeable on a street car... they might save 15-20 lbs at most. And any of the ramair setups dont really do much until at least 100 mph, most of them never work.

keep the stock hood... spend the cash better someplace else.

I have the ULTRA-Z hood on my car. It doesn't do jack for performance, but it definitely looks badass. I would keep the stock hood and spend the money on a set of headers or something else. In my case I needed a new hood and State Farm was buying, so I went the ULTRA-Z hood route instead of the stock one. You can can check mine out in the link in my sig.

Personally there are way too many people with ram air hoods for me to get one, and I think the harwood cowl hood looks a lot better anyway.
