Highway mileage with a cam.

I am seriously thinking of doing a cam swap this winter, but I will be putting a lot of highway miles on the car within the next two years. I wanted to see if some of you would post your cam/head set up and what kinds of mileage you were getting. Thanks for the help.

Highway milage will be unchanged. A local shop had a 470rwhp car that got 31mpg on the highway. That's the most impressive MPG I've ever heard for an LSx motor. Just make sure you have a good tune and a fresh tune up, and you'll be fine on the highway. In town expect milage to decrease some.

um...yeah mileage will change...how much will depend on the tune

bigger cam requires more fuel...more fuel...duh...less mileage.

right now i'm not running the best part throttle tune on my cam...but the past 3 long trips i've taken have gotten me 25-26mpg.

and all those had some city in them....maybe 50miles out of 300....and most had the ttops off.

i'm stock rear gears with an m6

I got the 233/239 cam and with AC on 50% of the time I got 29 MPG in my car. Stock gears

Hope that helps.

yeah, with the stock 2.73's with 420rwhp, my gas milage seemed to improve. i could almost idle up to city speed limits. and high way was great. so the h/c didnt hurt a bit, but when i went to 3.73's, i dread highway driving now.

I recently got 30 mpg on a 100% highway trip. Most of the time I get around 25-26 highway.

What are y'all getting with the re-formulated (ethanol instead of mtbe) fuel?
