Re: Hey YOu!

I think 355rwhp is a little low. I've got a lid, filter, catback, FRA, and TBB and I've got almost 330 to the wheels..

I'm thinking maybe 365-375rwhp. Just a guess..

Re: Hey YOu!

with just the ls6 cam and supporting mods...no heads...i would say 355-360 is about right.

it's not a very big cam.

cams like the TR224 on stock heads are only making 370-380 give or take, and that cam is much more agressive than the Ls6.

i think the cam alone is only gonna net you about 20hp on top of what you are making.
so 330+20=350rwhp

Could be. A lot depends on simple maintenance as well. I know a guy who did a much-needed tuneup and gained 12rwhp from plugs, wires, and a fuel filter. Plus, some cars are just stronger from the factory than others. All of these variables apply. It would help to know what the car is putting down before the mods start.

I wouldn't consider that a 12 hp gain, just restoring lost power.

Re: Hey YOu!

However you want to word it. If the car was bought used, and it never had a tuneup, I consider it a gain.

it would not be a gain over the 350hp. He would be at 338, then tune up, then 350.

Re: Hey YOu!

From what I've found, the LS6 cam doesn't really do much for you until 4k RPM up. Its a peaky cam. You'd be better off with something that has more under the curve. Max hp gains are not what you want to look at. Look at the whole curve. Thats why I suggested looking at the dyno charts posted on ls1tech.

Re: Hey YOu!

if you're willing to pony up for heads, you can make your 380-400 rwhp goal with the TR224 cam, ported heads and a dyno tune.

if you want to stay stock heads...you'll need to go bigger. now that i've go a good clutch and a light flywheel i am in the 390s with my setup in the signature. nice cam, good street manners. i think with more agressive tune i would hit 400 to the wheels...and that's on stock heads.
