Hey I passed a sniffer test with no cats!

We were using my friend Ken's emission test machine with the in ground rollers to look at diagnostics and O2 with a predator. We were trying to see if the Hypertech leaned it out too much. Zero knock and still a bit rich! He wanted to see how bad it was without cats so he stuck the sniffer in the tailpipe. It passed georgia standards no problem and he said it would have passed stricter standards as well. Damn its cool to have access to this kind of ****e.

They can tell if the cats are gutted by knocking on them, they will sound hollow. I brought my car in to get the cat welded to my Y pipe and the exhaust shop said that they wouldn't do it because they didn't want to get fined. My car passed emissions in Texas with a gutted cat with the first owner but you're taking a chance of getting a fine.

Of course with orp you would fail a visual test. If I passed a sniffer test and then some jack *** started crawling around under my car and banging on things, it would be the last thing he ever did because I would drive off and smash his little exhaust **** head. You need to find an exhaust shop with some BAWLS! Sone times it takes a little looking. The point is, as far as chemical output is concerned, the ls1 does not need cats. Actually I think the EGR helped it pass a lot.

I agree with you 100% but sometimes the emmisions **** screw up alot of things. Maybe we are going backwards by keeping cats on efficient engines. Oh, one more thing, the guy that pussed out on just welding the exhaust up was at the track last night, you would think that he would have some idea about this. Someone else did it and they were alot cooler. But this is the same guy who told me I wouldn't have any gains if I cut the resonator out of my Pathfinder. Now that you reminded me I really don't like the fat azz and he drives a Ford.

No you cannot pass witout cats if your car calls for them. however it all depends on how well they look at you car most shops don't look for cat as log as it passes on the machine. If you want to do it right go with hi flow cats. I really cant say how good they are since i have never used them. remember if you gut your cats on a 98 and up you will need to get the dummy plugs also
