Help, What Did I Break In The Motor!!!!
I just raced my buddy in his really quick mustang like 7 times in a row, all high speed races (145+)On the last race I thought I was in drive and when it was time to shift to OD, i shifted, but hit nuetral because i had mistakenly already been in OD, and smacked the rev-limiter a few times. After I slowed back down I realized i had a REAL loud tapping noise coming from the motor. Almost sounded like a really loud lifter tick. Also, was thinking it might be a bent pushrod or two. I'll pull the pushrods out tomorrow and check them out. The car drives and idles fine, no smoke, no leakin oil or coolant. Just the noise....what do you guys think I could have done???? I hope its nothing major. Also, do you think hooking it up to Auto-tap could help diagnose it? My buddy has it and I thought we would hook it up and see whats going on. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

please specify Push rods when you say bent rods.. A connecting rod is what is normally refered to as a "Rod"
you most like had some valve float and had some valves hit the pistsons.
you could have done one or multipul things.
Bent valve(s)
bent pushrod(s)
notched a piston(s)
colasped a lifter(s)
if the SES light doesnt flash it means you do not have any crazy missfires but it can still be bad.. i bet some valves and like 7 pusrods and it ran almost normal.
BTW, this is what happens when you shift an auto that does not need to be shifted manually.
