Trying to talk a friend into purchasing a 2001 SS that is for sale. Can anyone enlighten us as to what the difference between LS1 z28 and LS1 SS is. Thanks.

 

hood, rims, swaybar...... other than that, there isn't a diffrerance

 

what about exhaust, whisper lid, stuff like that.

 

stuff like that are options from SLP. check the door for the "second SLP sticker" that will list all the SLP options. i believe the only things that came on EVERY SS were hood, 17x9 rims, 275/40 tires, and SS spoiler. all the other stuff like suspension, exhaust, induction, etc, were optional.

 

Does WS6 or firehawk come with SLP options too...?

 

The every SS part is true but also includes exhaust and suspension, but the exhaust and suspension could be further upgraded then the standard SS suspension and exhaust.

 

Firekawk comes with a lot of standard SLP stuff. WS6 wasn't made by SLP (at least not 98-02) but it comes with stuff similar to an SS.

98-00 (not certain about 00) got about 90% of the 1LE parts, such as sway bars, PS cooler, etc. 01-02 nad possibly 00 did not get as much if any 1LE content.

Performance wise the Z28 and SS are nearly identical. A SS may stretch its legs in a road course setting, given equal drivers, due to the tires and suspension.

 

My $.02

SS= Prestige of owning the Baddest Camaro with apperance, suspension and 10hp+ exhaust.
Z28= Cheaper car, performance potential are the same, can take that extra money to "Mod" it!
