HELP: Tripometer resets itself

Yeah, don't know why, but 50% of the time when i turn on my car the tripometer resets. I don't know what's causing it either. Also, SOMETIMES the 'CHANGE OIL' light will come on then go off after a minute. What's going on? Anyone had similar problems?

Mine does the same thing. Someone else posted the same thing a while ago and I belive that the people who responded said that only 99's did this and it had some thing to do with the battery being low and the computer. Go back a few weeks or so on this board and there is a post that some people replied to that explains. Mine only does it when it is cold. During the summer it dosen't, yours the same.

There's a TSB about this problem, I don't have the number right now but the problem is either in the cluster or the battery can be just weak enough to cause the problem.

TSB?? Is that a recall or something? But yeah, it's definately cold here, that's for sure, I just got back to South Dakota on leave. Oh yeah, now that i think of it, the lights at night even flash a little bit, so could be the batter, or yeah, the cluster thing too i guess. But yeah, thinks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin (or maybe 'safety' bulletin??). AFAIK, they're not quite a recall, but just common problems that GM is aware of?!

And about the "Change Oil" light --- I just rolled 18,000kms on my car the other day, but about 2 weeks ago I had the Change Oil light come on for the 2nd time since I've owned the car (first time around ~9000kms). I've noticed it come on, then go out, and come back on again at first, then it has stayed on...........except I've reset it both times since I'm following the 5000km (3000mile) oil change schedule. I wouldn't worry too much about that light, but the trip meter problem is weird?! Sorry I can't say much about that.
