Whether it is because of the shop or just from wear and tear, you pay to play.

Don't just sit and cry about it, start digging your pockets for some $$$ for a new engine or a rebuild.

Again: you play, you pay.

I would assume the heads cam are fine so I would start shopping for a short block assembly unless you want to have a "Reputable" shop rebuild yours. Highly doubt that the head/cam installer is at fault unless they dropped some crap into the motor...I would suspect the thrilling perfomance gains, the mileage on your car, and the nitrous are paramount to the failure. Usually loud knocking and low oil pressure are attributable to the big end bearings.

I'd suspect problems with the oil pump (assuming it's stock). They're pretty well known for having problems on 98's.

I've heard of people losing bearings after heads/cam swaps, but when a shop does it you expect them to do the job right - oh wait, no I dont expect them to do it right. Its not thier car, and the lowly payed peons may not give a hoot about your car, stripped threads would be the least of my worries.

This is why I do my own work, sorry to hear you got roasted.

There are plenty of all kinds of short blocks around. LS1's, LS6's etc.
