Exclamation Help me with my shift points/firmness !

I would like to change the shift points and firmness of the shifts in my tranny. Can you guys to me where I can read up about this?
Also, what kind of program do I need to do this and what are some good numbers to program in? What have you guys with adjusted shift points and firmness found?
Any info would be greatly appreciated, I'm in the dark totally! Thanks.

Jason~

Thumbs up

The two routes i know of you can go with is the Hypertech Power Programmer III or a Shift Kit. Id go with a Shift kit, it would be cheaper and better then the hypertech.
A hypertech can extend your shifts at WOT and you can adjust your shift firmness to different levels. 10%-30%-up to 100%. A shift kit is more specialized then the hypertech in that area so i think it would be alot better. If thats all you want, an hpp3 would be very over priced for you.

When I installed the hypertech into my 2001 Z28 w/a4 with 3.23 gears. It took a few times but I finally got it dialed in.
I used the following settings:
Power tuning - Yes
Rev Limitter - 6300 rpm's
Shift firmness - 100%
1-2 shift pt - +3 mph (shifts at 6000 rpm's)
2-3 shift pt - +2 mph (shifts at 6100 rpm's)
3-4 shift pt - +3 mph (didn't test this one)
Thermostat - 180 deg

It seem's to have good pull through out the rpm range.

I've had it set this way for a couple months and I'm pleased.

If you have 2.73 or 3.73 gears your shift points would need to be differant. Before you change yours shift points, take the car out at WOT (wide open throttle)and pay attention to what rpm you are shifting. Then adjust your shift point 1 mph at a time and take the car and check it. I wanted to be at approximately 6000 rpm's.

Good luck!
