Help! Installing a new hood!

Help! I can't get the hood to shut!
I've spend about 2 hours so far getting this hood on.. and now it doesn't fit!! Like it won't shut.. I understand I need to fit it correctly, we've tried loosening and pushing several times but it doesn't want to shut. Any tips or heck even a web page that tells me or could help me do this? It would be Great help!!
