Help! Dealer trying to railroad me?
Help! Dealer trying to railroad me?
My dealer is trying to feed me tripe about the strange metallic noise when traction control engages as 'thats the traction control pump starting up'.
Traction control pump? Did I miss something in school? Or is the dealer lying to me?
The rearend was run dry once and was in for service at the same dealer at that time. Now they also claim 'whoever serviced the rearend last time overfilled it, thats why both axle tubes are wet from the inside to the middle and the lover half of the cover is drenched in fluid.'
I can imagine the cover being wet from overflow tube, but not from exactly the middle downwards and I see no way how the overflow tube can make both axle halves wet from the inside to the middle.
I think the dealer is too lazy to open the thing up and replace the gaskets and also afraid of what they will find, as it is a GMPP claim, and he is trying to make me pay the diagnose and not fix anything.
Any help is appreciated.

Neither have I and I have no idea what a TCS needs a pump for, its an electronic system that retards ignition and changes injection parameters.
I just want to make sure I am not missing something.
Thanks
Other opinions?

It doesn't matter if you go in to a dealer to get a key copied, you're going to get bent over.
I went to have a noise in my rear end diagnosed a while back. They claim they took the cover off and gave me a quote of "at least" $1,400 to rebuild it to stock specs since "pretty much all the parts are gone" (their quote.)
I looked at him stupidly and he said "we could get a unit from a WS6 for $1,500" and insisted he was correct when I told him they're the same god damn thing.
I took the car home and looked underneath it. The bolts that hold on the cover were still completely rusted over. There's no way they took it off or even looked at it. Know what was actually wrong? A bad bearing.
$1,500 to completely rebuild a stock POS 10-bolt without even diagnosing the problem. Yeah, I'll go back there again.

Didn't find a single thing on google for traction control pump.
You should ask him what it is pumping and just keep asking questions about it, that way he is put on the spot and has to keep comming up with B.S.

2 things come to mind here.1st off you need to find a good mechanic you can trust, ask around.2nd thing is run, don't walk away from that dealer as fast as you can.if all else fails try another GM dealer but don't tell him you already had it checked out & see what they say.We only get ripped off if we lef ourselves get ripped off.If it turns out they were lying to you then it's time to call the BBB
Ill have a chat with the service manager. If he tries to give me the runaround again Ill find another dealer.
Currently I cant go to a non-dealer mech - I have a GMPP and they dont honor non-GM shops' invoices.

Just got off the phone with the service manager. Usual mix of arrogance ('your friends dont know what they are talking about'), agressivity ('you are driving the car far beyond its limit'), bad customer treatment ('shut up, im talking and you need to listen') and bull**** ('oil from the vent tube will wind up on the axles and cause exactly that pattern of axle tubes being wet from the inside to the middle and lower half of diff cover wet').
At least he hadnt heard of a TCS pump inside the diff either - a ray of hope
He will call me back in a few and see what can be done but I expect they wont do anything.
Now I am weighing my options.

I wish I could tell you but the last thing I need is their attorneys coming after me
