HELP 98 camaro headlight problem

I was driving my car last night when all of the sudden my headlights went out. I thought it was a fuse so immediately pulled over to check. It wasn't so I called my friend with an 01 Z28 and we traded headlight switches; mine worked in his but his didn't in mine. While on the rest of the way home my headlights suddenly came on for a minute then off. I thought it might be a relay or something but couldn't find one for the headlights. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or someone could possibly give me a good starting point. Like I said all fuses are good and so is the switch. Any help at all would be appreciated

Lightbulb I believe the headlights have a circuit breaker, not a fuse.

That being said, you did the best thing I could have thought of by trying a different switch.

One thought is if the auto lamp light sensor on top of the dash wigged out, although I do not know if our cars have some sort of a "fail-safe" built into the circuit or not.

See here http://www.xse.com/leres/ss/drl.html if ya wanna experiment with bypassing the sensor, but I think I would probably try to troubleshoot more first.

Try looking under the hood for obviously chafed or exposed wiring in the light circuit.

Other than that, all I can say is best of luck to ya.

Mess with the dimmer lever & see if that affects it?

The combo switches do go bad.
