Help

I just recently got a set of mac mid length headers and was wondering what I need to have inorder to install them with now probs. Such as block off plates, gaskets, o2 extensions etc. I plan on gettin rid of the egr and air pump and I'm going to get the codes turned off as well, any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Help

I would get some good steel GM gaskets. I think ls1speed.com sells them for $20 a pair. I'm not sure about macs, but you might need some 12" 02 extensions as well.

Are the headers you're getting emissions headers or the race version? If they are race version then you will need block off plates for egr and air.

If the headers are race, then also don't bother with 02 sims, because you can just get the rear 02s programmed out when you get a new program deleting air and egr.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I just re-read your post and since you're programming out the AIR, EGR, and rear 02s, all you should need are the gaskets and extensions. The stock header bolts work fine.

Re: Help

check out my header install guide on page 11 of my website in the sig, it's for LTs but the general idea is the same.

i agree with getting the metal gaskets, thunder racing sells them, along with the AIR and EGR plates. if you want i actually have an EGR blockoff plate and plug for the EGR tube in the intake for sale if you want it. i actually have 2 sets, one is on Ebay right now

i'm not sure if you'll need the o2 extensions or not with the mid lenght headers, call mac and see what they say.

Re: Help

I have Mac's. I'd reuse your stock gasket and stock bolts. Many people do with no problems. You can easily fab AIR and EGR block off plates for the headers out of some aluminum bar stock, but unless you have an ls6 intake you'll have to get a plug for the intake also. IIRC, there is a freeze plug that should fit in, but I can't remember the size.
I didn't need any O2 extensions. You may have to reroute the wires a bit though.
You'll probably want some clamps the hook your Y up unless you weld it.

BTW, might as well change your plugs with the headers are out.
