Headers or cam? money to burn...

Ok guys, what's gonna give me a bigger gain hooker longtubes and off road y-pipe or maybe a hot cam with the slp 1:85 roller rockers I already have? and will my 03 ls6 springs survive this setup? would I need tuining for the long tubes? sorry all these questions but I got some money to burn and wanted to hear opinons on these mods plus I need more POWER!

THANKS,
MIKE

i do beleive that SLP and other companies recommend AGAINST using the 1.85's with an aftermarket cam.

maybe the hotcam is mild enough taht it would work, but i would research it a bit more.

and i say headers...otherwise you are still choking the engine

You won't see the true gain from a cam without headers, so I would recommend you get those first. Getting a cam is also alot more expensive as you have to pay for installation and then a dyno tune afterwards.

I have the SLP L/T headers, Y-Pipe, & high flow cats, and they were worth every penny

I've heard that you should have the car tuned after the header installation to realize their full potential, but I've only had minor tuning done @SLP's shop in Toms River NJ.

They've made a difference though, and the sound in awesome.

Unless ls1's are different from every other motor I have worked on changing cams isn't that difficult. Just maybe a little time consuming. As far as the dyno tune I would definantly agree on that.

So true. You should have everything done before you even consider headers, let alone a cam.

Get headers, they will really free up your exhaust system- I can't wait to get mine!!! At least by the time my 6 mo. suspension is over, I'll have time to do my wheels/drags, headers, sfcs, stb, throttle body, heads and cam. It'll be like driving a totally different car.

Headers...Cam wont do much good with the stock manifolds . Its desighned to get more air out at one time . Youll need headers first . Mine are on order

One word. Headers. A cam wont breathe through stock manifolds.
