I recently picked up a used Mac mid length setup with Off road y. I did some searches and found several who said they had dyno experience with the Macs and long tubes. They said that the mid lengths only gave up a few HP at the top of the rpm range. I didn't search shorties vs long tubes.

do a search there is more than enough info on this situation. Regardless, 99% of the people on this forum will tell you to go longtubes, including myself.

I agree, i just got mine running after installing PS LTs & an Ory pipe, i'll see what it does the next time at the track, but it feels much better, & from my exsperience so far, my low-end power really increased, this is on a 6sp. with stock gears, someone said it would hurt below 3000 some, well if it did, i don't notice it

Ballpark, probably a difference of 15-20 hp.

Yes thats true, there are differences in size, brand, material, etc...but he's asking shorties vs. LT's...which is pretty much a no-brainer...LT's ftw.

Equal length? Tube diameter? What else are we discussing??

Obviously primary tube length (short vs. long) makes a difference. I've heard/read conflicting reports that say SHORT primaries actually flow MORE at top end, but sacrifice LOW end TQ .

Does ANYBODY have REAL dyno #'s for a stock LS1 w/shorties, vs. a stock LS1 w/LT's?

Good call on the used MACs. They get a bad rap from the "go LTs or go home" crowd, but are actually quite good for a street car. They were a breeze to install and tucked up nice. If I didn't go with a serious H/C/N install, I would have kept them...

You want Long Tubes. Shorties or mids are basically better flowing manifolds..that is it. A good LT header like Kooks...not only flows better..it scavages. What that means is that it basically creates a vacum and sucks the exhaust out the cylinder head.

We sell a huge selection of headers for any budget here-
