Thanks Dan

its my understanding that if you move the CATS its against the law across the country. maybe your state doesn't check to close or have emmisions testing. that said you have many choices. i'm told by tpi specialties (chaska minnesota) that you will gain 20 hp ,maybe a couple more with long tubes, high flow cats & y pipe. i'm considering shorties which most guys will bash and not make a fair comparison. SHORTIES plus high flow cats plus y pipe are worth 16 to 17 hp according to jba & random (i called the companies myself!) jba told me 12 (possibly flywheel) and random told me 9 (cats & y pipe). sure if you modify say heads & cam you would want lt's for maximum gain. as for cheap / low cost you get what you pay for. good luck

Back in the day when Trevor had his 98T/A, he put a set of Hooker shorties on his car with just bolt-ons. He gained 0 HP and 10-12ft/lbs of Torque.

question for BIGZ28, did your friend dyno before and after with no variables? did he have stock cats,y pipe & catback? unless all the maufacturers lie, he should have gained no less than 5 hp if thats all he changed. please state all relivant facts.

BUY THE BEST THE FIRST TIME AND GET SOME STAINLESS KOOKS AND IF YOU PLAN TO DO A STROKER OR HEADS PERHAPS THE LARGER KOOKS WITH LARGER PRIMARIES.

He had a custom 2 1/2" y-pipe made, he kept the cats and had the same exhaust system as before. I didn't say they were lying, I was just posting numbers to give people an idea of what there making.

Thanks!

What about the hooker headers ? I mean for the money are they a good set of headers ? What kind of numbers do you think it will increase as in HP's and Torque ? And are the flowtechs the same as the hookers and as in numbers for Torque and Hp's ?

Thanks Dan
