!! Push Rod Madness !!
I told a bunch of people I know about this site and now every time they race or rod there LS1's they ask me about bent push rods.
Seriously if you bend a push rod you should be able to hear some noise 99% of the time right? I think all of the push rod posts are causing panic.

If you bend a pushrod you will be able to hear it 99% of the time is correct. It will be a tapping or clicking type of sound that will increase in intensity when the rpm is increased. Usually it takes a major over rev situation to bend a pushrod. An example would be trying to go from the top of 3rd gear into 4th and hitting 2nd instead. Cars with automatic transmissions generally don't have to worry about bending pushrods. Luckily pushrods are easy to change out and the hardened pushrods, which are much harder to bend, are fairly inexpensive.

Am I correct in thinking it won't go away when warm right? Alot of people mistake loud GM valvetrain noises for lifter/rod problems but that usually decreases in volume when everything is warm.

The ticking will not go away period until the bent pushrods are replaced. Performance will suffer because bending a pushrod effectively shortens it's length which means the associated valve cannot open as far....less lift=less performance.
