Post Head and Cam Install, in progress!!

For those that know, I've been planning this week since Christmas 01! It's all come down to now. I've got everything ready to go and I'm already well into the motor.

You guys can certainly follow my progress, I'm hopefully going to update this daily and eventually turn it into a pretty good guide for those that want to do this in the future.

Right now I'm waiting for a few more things to show up via UPS tomorrow. A compression tester and some other stuff. I basically want to get my cylinder compression readings before I tear the heads off. I want to make sure that everything is kosher and I and that the new readings will be reasonable. That way I can be a little more sure that everyting is going back together well.

Anyway, check out the photos. I started to fill in the instructions but am now into my sleep time!! Let me know what you guys think! Unfortunately for some of the photos I still need to add some commentary, but you can get the point.

It is a hydraulic roller cam setup. I'm not changing that either. Much easier to maintain and no need to relash the rockers and valves. Hopefully the documentation will be useful when I get it all together. I'm actually finding it pretty straightforward to do and not terrible tough.

As far as my boltons go, I have quite a few. You can see the listing I started last night on my web page. They are not all there yet, but it's a pretty good list. I'm going to add pictures for each of the boltons listed as well as sound clips and some videos later.

Exhaust - ~$2000
Chassis Suspension and Drivetrain - ~$2500
Heads and Cam, bolts, gaskets, fluids, tuning, bandaids, etc. - ~$4000

Blowing your drive shaft to smitherines, priceless! This one is being rectified at the moment.

Sounds like a great setup Steve!! In case you didn't know, you'll have to clearance your rockers, or your retainers will end up looking like mine: (Thanks Agostino)

I've already been warned about that. There was a nice big note about it in the shipping box. I'm just going to clear them with a die grinder if I don't get .020 clearance out of it. That will probably be a part of tomorrows documentary series!!

Thanks for posting the pic though, that helps make the problem I may face more clear!
