Has anyone sold or bought a z28 lately?
Has anyone sold or bought a z28 lately?
Maybe I am being ridiculous but I can't sell my car. It is a 2002 loaded (minus leather) automatic z28 with under 13000 miles. The car is in perfect shape, never smoked in, polished with zaino, garaged, and has no flaws inside or outside. Originally I listed it for $20,500 that was $1000 dollars below what kbb said I should be able to get. I got almost no interest at all. I have now lowered the price to $18000. This is $300 dollars below what kelley blue book says is a fair trade in value. I am still not seeing any real interest. What is the deal? Am I asking to much? I hope not. It has been almost a month. It is on a car lot now. I had a wholesaler offer me $13500, and that really pissed me of that he would even call (that is exactly 1/2 of the list price less than a year ago). I am just wondering if any of you have ran across this and what you think I should do. I do want to sell the car but I'm not going to give it away.

I guess it just depends on who's in the area. I just bought my '02 Z28 (sadly for more than you are asking for yours) on Saturday... but it wasn't a private seller, it was sitting out front of a local Ford dealer looking pretty and just screaming at me to take her for a test drive. Could just be that getting financing helps, not many can pay cash like that up front.

Actually the car market, at least here in So. Cal has been pretty weak, and from what I gather is the same in alot of areas. I was able to get my 2000 Z28 w/22k miles for $14,500, definitely a buyer's market. I did have to give some $$ up to sell my '94 Z28 though

$18k is a great price for at 2002 in your condition.
Good Luck

All camaros are used now...so, when someone's looking for a used car...it's about price. Those '98s and '99s that are going for 10-12k are hurting you.
Plus, you've got an auto
It seems like 70/30 autos to M6s.
Let me know if you decide to sell a used C5 hardtop instead...I'm looking for one.

That is weird, when I went to buy my car last November, the only cars that were being sold were A4s, so I decided to take an A4 because of the deal I did get on my car.. But if it were the other way around, I would have gotten an M6!!

. Makes A4 cars alot more desireable, especially for those aware of the minimal performance sacrifice between A4 and M6 cars.
Guess it all depends on the area. I just bought my SS from a private seller for $20,500... this after calling 3 other dealers only to find out they had just sold their car a couple days before. When I finally found mine and it wasn't over 100 miles away or an auto, I jumped on it. One dealer told me that when a newer F-Body comes on the lot, they don't even need to advertise it as it's usually gone pretty quickly (that may have something to do with summer time).
ChrisLS1Bird, I gotta agree with you, in the local autotrader a majority of the F-Bodies for sale were autos. Bleh
I could never own an auto in a car like this, not because of the minimal performance sacrafice but because this is a sports car, what fun would it be not to row your own gears?

Yes the market for these cars is minimal(he!!, they couldn't sell them new, so it is gonna be damn hard to sell them used), people just can't afford to pay big $$$($15,000+) for what they really want(so they are continously forced to settle for less), and you've got to keep in mind that you are competing against many others selling the exact same kind of car(which doesn't help).
But most importantly, you basically have to get lucky and come across/find the right buyer at the right time. There is always someone out there willing give you what you want for your car, but finding them is a whole different story. So just stay patient(one month really isn't that long) and you'll eventually find someone who will pay a good $18-$19 grand for your Camaro(maybe even a bit more). Try and advertise it to the general public as much as you can, thus the more exposure it gets, the more the likely you are to generate some interest in it.
BTW, I sold my old fully-loaded Bright Rally Red 2000 A4 Z28 w/ 10,000 miles on it(nice condition) last July for exactly $18,750 to a private buyer locally. After not getting any interest the first three weeks, a young man then saw my ad in the Autorader and the rest is history.
Good luck,
Mike
