Has Anyone Ever Seen This Done?

I saw this on some guy's website, the link is below. It looks like he cut holes in his hood were the latch is to make it some kind of cold air or ram air inductions. I guess on a Trans Am this part of the hood is exposed the outside so I guess it could work. The Pic of it is at the bottom on the left, it is a thumbnail with the hood open car facing forward. What do you guys think?

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen This Done?

I zoomed in with a adobe and those definitely aren't shadows. There are identical cuts on both sides. Take a closer look

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen This Done?

I've saw it done before. I'm not going to be doing it anytime soon though,

And if I'm looking at the same pic you guys are that almost looks photoshopped to me? They cuts just look kinda funny.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen This Done?

Just get a good CAI like the SSRA. It will surpass the effects of the above mentioned mod.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen This Done?

I like it.
You can't tell it's there with the hood shut, and hardly notice it while up.
I would round the edges a little more if I did it.
It's gotta work fine.
Less chance of hydrolock as well, unlike some of the under car ram systems.
This also channels cool air, instead of hot air like the FRA. Cleaner air than the under bumper systems.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen This Done?

I have done this to my car, but I really didn't get any more horsepower. I thought the air would blow right in and maybe help air flow. Biggest problem with this is bugs and anything else flying in will make a mess on the inside.
So if you are thinking of doing this its up to you but like I said it really didn't help me much.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen This Done?

All the things people are willing do to supposedly gain that one tenth/hundreth of a horsepower, eh? :blah:

Unless you have an extra hood laying around, I wouldn't do it.
