Gouged block deck - repairable?

On an aluminum block, I have a very minor gouge on the deck from a vice grip. It is about 1/2" long, and just enough to catch your fingernail on. Short of planing the deck at the machine shop, what can be done about this? Could I fill the gouge with a little JB weld, smooth it out perfectly flat to the deck, and let it cure? It is a really small area. Or should I just leave it and will the gasket squish to fill this space once the heads are torqued?

This is on a 96' caddy northstar motor for all you LSx lovers who are going I treat my LSx with nothing but the utmost care I don't really care much about this daily beater caddy. Just want something to work and hold. I've heard great things about JB weld on blocks. It's worked fine for me in other applications... Comments?

I think I'd try to even up the depression with some epoxy product. Make sure to read the application panel. Some of the epoxy materials are more heat tolerant than others.

From what I see it does not enter the hole ore exit the block so it should be fine.plus you may make things worse trying to blend it in flush just leave it alone or get the block decked if you think its wors than what I am seeing. JB weld is just a half *** way to fix things I try to do things right the first time that will save you time and money in the long run. Jason
