Got a question, just wanna ease my worries a bit.

I just got my clutch installed today, and it was runnin great for a little, but I was driving it around to break it in. At first it was great. I have never chirped third gear before, but now, I did it without even pushing it to the shift light, I only put it to about 4500 or 5000. But then as I was driving, I started hearing noises. I covered my cutout so I could hear it better, and going into first gear from a dead stop, it make like a chatter noise and vibration around my feet, and makes a squeal noise. Also, a couple of times at wide open throttle, it started making that vibrating and noise and lost power and did it at the end of first gear shifting to second a few times. I'm assuming it just needs to be adjusted, right? But my main question is, I haven't ruined anything from driving it while it is like that tonight, have I? I called up my friends shop, and told him, and he told me to bring it in tomorrow, and he'll look at it. I know he'll fix it and make sure everything's perfect, cause he's a good guy, but I guess i'm a nervous type person, and just wanna know what it might be, and know that I didn't just ruin my new clutch by driving it around while it's doin this. When it comes to my baby, I get nerve racked when somethin ain't right, and it's hard to sleep at night till I know what's wrong. (Yeah, I know that's a little obsessive, but my car is like the most important thing in my life other than my family)

I also forgot to mention that it's making a whining noise, that at first I thought I broke my rear, but it doesn't sound like it's coming from the rear, sounds like it's coming from the clutch area. And it's not the engine whistling, cause it doesn't do it when the car is just reving and not moving.

Sounds to me like it may be a bad throw out bearing and a slipping clutch plate. Tou probably didn't hurt it if you didn't let it slip too much. You didn't smell the clutch burning?

Nope, no burning, and it's a brand new clutch and pressure plate, so it shouldn't be slipping.

Well the vibrating and loss of power while driving is the clutch slipping. The linkage may need to be adjusted, it may not be allowing the clutch to engage all the way.

Loudmouth, I just ordered my Rev-Lok II this morning. I'll let you know how it goes and look out for the symptoms you're describing. I talked to both the foreman of the parts/repair shop of a local Chevy dealer, to the people at Thunder Racing, and my local mechanic. Other than the updated hydraulics, none knew of any other larger risks in installing this clutch. My mechanic was somewhat familiar with McLeod in general and said this clutch would have no trouble handling any abuse dealt out by the driver.

Yeah, it'll take all the abuse you can throw at it, I'm just assuming mine needs to be adjusted.

I just figured i'd let everyone know that the clutch is fine, I found out that a little bit of squeaking and vibrating going into first at low rpms is normal cause it's an iron disk clutch. It doesn't do it if I give it more gas and get into it at higher rpms.

Also, this was coming from the rear, not the clutch. Found it out when it did it at the track after launching hard. Heard the noise come from the rear, so gonna get the rear checked out.
