Got my oil changed.. now the Change Oil light comes on

The Change Oil light comes on when crank the car up. It only stays on for a minute or two, but I just got the oil changed in it, and there is enough oil in it. What's the deal?

You have to reset it by turning the key 2 clicks, and then holding the odometer button in until the change oil light flashes.

Yeah...the car's computer uses some sort of crazy algorithm to figure out when you should "theoritcally" need to change your oil. However, if you change your oil and forget to reset it, the computer has no idea that this has happened. This happens to me about every 7,000 miles or so I believe when I forget to reset the light.

Supposedly you can turn the key to run and pump the accelerator pedal 3 times to reset it also. I haven't tried it so I don't know, but if it works it will keep you from reseting your trip meter if you like to keep track of gas mileage.

Wierd thing is.. I've never reset my "oil life computer"... but its also never come on either. I have never seen the "Change oil" light. And I almost always change my own oil, the few times I dont, I am sitting in the car while it is changed.

I have a Canadian Camaro.. maybe the computer is a little different in these cars, I dunno.
