Got a 02 WS6

Just purchased a 2002 trans am WS6 black on black.
41,300K 1 owner

got some questions. what oil should i use? 10W30 mobil 1? 5 quarts?
cant get the raditor cap off?
the ram air box and lid and intake look restrictive. what is a good upgrade?
also if someone could point me to a good tranny cooler install write up. as well as where to put the sending unit for a tranny temp gauge..

whats the best intake setup for me?

thanks

Most people use Mobil 1 10W30. Also 5 quarts is what the manuel says i think but most put in around 5 1/2 to 6 quarts or just fill it till the dipstick reads full. Most LS1 tend to burn about half a quart of oil between each oil change.

Not sure on that one. Is there still pressure in the system maybe?

Most people go with an aftermarket lid. Some even cut out the brazel in the air box part as well.

Not sure on the last two but you might try LS1.com or LS1tech.com and search some of the forums for one and i'm sure you will find what your looking for.
Congrads on the car. I've always wanted a black on black WS-6 Just a pain in the *** to keep clean haha.

Re: Got a 02 WS6

Paper air filters are the best. Any lid will offer the same performance. Use 5W30 motor oil.

Re: Got a 02 WS6

yea any air filter should work for you. I'm not sure exactlly which part on T/A thats you are suppose to cut but i think a quick search on ls1.com or something should bring something up.

I think there is something in the hood where the air goes in that you can cut out to. I think the peice in the air box is a black plastic peice that runs across in the middle of the intake where the filter sits is what your suppose to cut out.

Yes normally it goes away after the engine has warmed up since everything is alum. Some people on other boards have had luck with changing to a thicker or heavier oil so that might also help to.
