GMMG customer service not good

I called GMMG today to ask a few questions about their exhaust system. The owner, I assume, answered and was not very helpful. He skirted around the questions I had, all the while making a point that they "do not sell to the general public". Well, what are they doing on the 'net then when you can order their exhaust system right online? Isn't that selling to the general public? I know they don't advertise but. . . I guess the two things that finally turned me off to their product was when someone came in and he was very rudely talking to this person while I was trying to talk to him and his conversation with the other party consisted mainly of the word "f@#kin'" every other word, not very professional to let a potential customer hear. Then he got another call, he knew I was calling from out of state but put me on hold anyway. After waiting ten minutes, wasting time and money, I hung up. Needless to say, I won't be buying from that company. Just wanted to air my grievance and see if anyone else has had a similar experience with them?
BTW, the people at Corsa are always more than helpful and friendly, think I'll stick to my original plan and purchase their product.

Sorry you had a bad experience, but the fact is they don't want to deal with the public. They modify f-bodies for dealerships, and I work for one of those dealers. If you know the guys they're alright. Really, I'm surprised they answered the phone. They just offer the exhaust on their site due to high demand. What they are in business to do is build tuner f-bodies. If you wonder how the exhaust sounds, my 2002 Formula is loud as all get out and gets compliments everywhere.

Glad to hear you are pleased with the product. I know their main function is to modify cars for dealers but if they don't want to answer their phone to the general public then they shouldn't "advertise" their phone number on their "public" website. And I also think the rules of common courtesy should apply when they do answer the phone; I certainly don't talk over someone who is trying to carry on a conversation with me, nor do I put long distance callers on hold and not get back to them. Just my thoughts, again I believe he was very rude. If you know these guys you may want to pass this on.

Sorry to hear that. I've also had dealing with Corsa and all I can say is WOW! I had the muffler split on me. It was a small crack on the outlet pipe. I was at the Carlisle, PA show and they were there as well. I asked the guy to look at my car. So he did and said "OK let's go back to the tent so I can get all your info and we will send you a new one." They asked for the old one back so the can research it. They also paid for the shipping of it to be sent back. All I had to do was call UPS to pick it up.

After receiving the new muffler I noticed they forgot to send the new clamps I had asked for. So I called them and they were so sorry and appologic to me. So they sent it right out. I swear as I was talking to the guy he was packing the box cause I got it that quick.

I'm also happy with my Corsa. I love the sound. I let my husband take it to work tonight and it sounds awesome going down the road.

I certainly don't want to be an apologist for these guys. If it were my shop, I would make customer relations top priority in order to gain aftermarket business. Just thought I'd explain how things work around there. I've never heard a Corsa. I know that Flowmaster sounds like crap on an LS1 and Borla is too expensive. I get mixed reactions to SLP kit owners.

Thanks for the info. The muffler problem was a defect in their system?

About the sound, everyone I know around here is trying to convince me that it won't be very much different at all from my stock SS, perhaps even a little bit more on the quiet side. Not sure about that one so guess I'll ask your opinion on how the two compare, Corsa to stock??? Thanks for the reply. . .

I appreciate your reply. I'm usually a very laid back person so I don't know why I should even have gotten annoyed with them. But they lost my business and that should annoy them.

I'm sure you would be very good at customer relations. What is it that you presently do at your dealership?

I've heard of Dallas, GA. Where is it in relation to Stone Mountain or Roswell? I have friends in both cities. I hear from them the winters are great, makes me want to move quick before the snow flies again. I hate winter! Have a good holiday weekend!

I work in the parts dept. Dallas is about 20 miles or so west of Roswell. Winters aren't always that great, we just freeze without the snow.

Yes...... the GMMG people are A______s in my opinion. I've called them a few times and got the same response. I was seriously thinking of buying a GMMG then I called them.... they put me on hold..... the rude secretary answered my questions with one word answers and she gave me a vibe like I'm an idiot. I spoke with Matt Murphy and he starting speaking to someone else while I was talking with him! He then put me on hold for what seemed like an hour. I finally said to hell with it.... I'll take my hard earned cash elsewhere! One of these days the GMMG folks may get a clue and find out if it were not for the GENERAL PUBLIC buying their product, Murph and his gang would be flipping big macs.

I was just wondering, is it just me or does it seem that most shops that tune F-bodies have severe customer service problems? All the shops I deal with have a tendency to be elitist and standoffish. I always heard before I bought my 4th gen that LT1/LS1 people lack in social graces. I see how that impression can be arrived at. The tuner shops are rude to potential customers. The owner of a 98 Camaro tells another guy his 97 is junk because it isn't "new" technology. You know, I have never heard of this in the Mustang community. Just an observation.

Well im not taking up for anyone, but i had good luck with the GMMG group, i could tell a little that they could care less if they sold me the exhaust or not, but they still took my order, and the exhaust was sent to the door when they said it would be there, as far as on the phone they were not rude to me at all!!! i give the exhaust two thumbs up sounds nasty on my 2000 SS

I wanted to buy the GMMG grille and their reply was rude and unfriendly. It takes exactly as long to type up a friendly reply as it takes to type a rude one. I think they simply are not a well run business.

SSRox......I love the sound of my Corsa. It is on the expensive side tho, but I feel it was worth the money. I also heard it gets louder with headers on. I don't have headers on mine...Not yet...lol.

As comparing the stock to the Corsa. The Corsa is louder than the stock. After installing it I took it for a drive to see just how loud it was. I think the ultimate test is to drive at regular speed and see if anyone turns to look (people on sidewalks) as you are driving by. I did have people look even before I had gotten to them. This has NEVER happend with the stock exhaust. So the decision is up to you.

I always get friends asking me what I think of this or that....All I tell them is.. "If you like it....get it....Who cares what others think as long as YOU like it....That's all that matters"

I hope this helps.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who was treated lousy by them. I suppose I shouldn't say who I talked to but it was Matt, also. Oh, well, at least it made my decision much easier so it was good for something! But yeah, I think they should be flippin' a few burgers at McD's, maybe they'd learn a little common courtesy and I say that tongue in cheek as I've seen some pretty rude people there, too.

And thanks, Carrie, I'm sold on the Corsa now, glad to hear how happy you are with it. Pricey, yes, but we only live once, hey?
