Getting the trunk to actually lift up? Replace shocks?

I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced the shocks on the hood, so when you press the hood release button it actually unlocks and lifts.

It's a pain in the *** having to unlock it, lift it, unlock it again, then lift.

I'm a wimp and want it to lift itself - even if it is just a bit.

Anyone replaced this, and/or can recommend any shocks that'll do the trick?

Ok.. you lost me. Your subject says trunk your post says hood. Rigging it so that your hood could come all the way up with just a pull of the release might bad idea. What if something happened going down the road and your hood flew up.

If you are talking about the trunk that is different. There are ways to fix it to where you only have to hit the release once. Check out www.installuniversity.com and look under the misc. section.

Oh.. and the shocks are not the problem if you are talking about the trunk.. it is the spring on the release.

I think he wants the rear hatch to open by itself when you hit the hatch release. Mine opens about halfway in the summer every now and again. It can be a bad idea, especially if you bump the hatch realease while getting ub and then it goes up on the first bump you hit. Just get stronger lifter struts if you really want it to open by itself and if you real lazy get a third gen, or a cadilac rear pull down too, this way you wont have to close it all the way. The only problem is that if it has the power to go up by itself, its gonna be a pain in the *** to pull it down so you dont really win.
