how much is it to get my stock heads ported and polished? how much HP can i expect out of this? anyone know a good place in the NY tri-state area? thanks

 

Nobody really ports/polishes their heads. Basically people buy a set of ported/polished 5.3L, LS6, or 6.0L heads from various companies, and supply their old heads as cores.

 

is this going on a stock cammed car?

there have been some threads about what affect ported heads would have on an otherwise stock car. some guys with lt1s say they pick up a solid 25hp, but i don't think anyone has done ls1 heads that i have seen. but considering the ls1's flow about as good stock as lt1 or standard SBC heads flow with a mild port/polish...that could be the reason.

if you are thinking of doing a cam, P/P is a good idea. but on an otherwise stock or bolton car...put your money elsewhere
