Are the gears and carrier compatible between 3rd and 4th gens?

Are the gears and carrier from a 3rd and 4th gen compatible, and interchangeable? Mostly worried about 3:42's, if it makes a difference.
Thanks
Steve

Yes they are......all 3rd gen and 4th gens have 7.5 10 bolts rears. A few 3rd gens had 9 bolt rears, but the majority of the 3rd gens got the 10 bolt.

That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure before I picked up this set of 3.42's to take the place of my 2.73's.
Thanks!

Make sure you have a 3 series carrier to replace yours. The SLP 99.00 take off torsen is a good deal.

The friend I'm dealing with is selling the 3.42 gears and the 3 series carrier from his 4th gen for $50. I thought they were the same 7.5 inch, 10 bolt, so I should be good to go now.
Thanks again
