Look on the driver side door or inside the glove box for the build sticker with codes. If you see GU2 you have 2:73 if you see GU5 you have 3:23. A good gear ratio to upgrade to is 3:73. Hope this helps.

Ditto ...

For the A4, changing the rear to a 3.73 ratio will really wake up your car. And, if you REALLY want to go fast off the line, do a 3.73 rear and a 3000 stall TC. If I still had the Z28, that's what would have been installed.

if you look at the shifter console and it has 1 2 d od n p than you have the performance rear axle which is 3.23 if it just says 2 d od n p than you have the 2.73. now if anyone knows for a fact that this isn't so please let me know because this is what i gathered from an article that i read awhile ago.

if you do get the 3.73 gears you might want to save up and buy some bigger tires you might get a slower time do to excessive tire cooking

are 100% sure because i read something in a gmhtp and it from what it sounded like you would only see a 1 in the gear select column if your car came with the performance axle ratio wich would mean it has 3.23's in it.
