Gasket on lid w/ K&N needed??????
I finally got my Direct Flo lid and my K&N in and installed it. but I have some important questions... I put the gasket around the edge of my lid and tried to install it but It would not fit at all (I fought with it forever) pulled off the gasket and alittle bit of work, and it went right on. Is that gasket needed???? Have any of you ever pulled it off and left it off????

I don't use the gasket on either car (see sig) and it fits much better. If you take a close look, the rubber part of the filter seems to sit just right and seems to seal ok. I say leave it off.
If you compare the stock filter to the K&N you'll notice the stock filter is taller, that is why you should use a gasket. Now I'll give you my opinion, trash the K&N and get yourself a Fram or up-grade to a Holley Power Shoot filter.

Well, I put the gasket back on last night and it seems to sit higher on the air box. there is also now a very small gap on the sides where the air box and lid meet. I think I might take it off for good. it still feels very tight against the K&N.

K&N is made for a Jeep not a LS1. Holley Powershots made for our cars
